Prior to this pandemic, were you planning to have a performance improvement discussion with one of your team members? Were you in the process of terminating someone? Were you considering a restructuring?

Have you delayed these or other decisions because of the coronavirus? The likely answer is, “Yes.” This makes sense because your immediate priorities, as the leader, quickly changed. In very short order, you had to respond to a radically changing working environment.

However, those tough decisions you were in the process of making 4 weeks ago have not likely gone away. And they shouldn’t be ignored.

A strong and effective leader makes those decisions and take those actions which support and drive the objectives of the team.

Assuming the objectives of the team have not changed, delaying making difficult decisions will negatively impact your team.  Don’t delay.  Make those decisions.
